Srinagar, Oct 8: There couldn’t be any good redemption as good as was witnessed by team India against in its World Cup opener against a sturdy and well-balanced Australian unit.
Australia, who opted to bat after winning the toss, saw early departure of Mitchell Marsh. Following Marsh came Steve Smith and with Warner steadied the innings along until Warner was caught and bold by Kuldeep Yadav while the scoreline read 74. The other Australian batters too utterly failed to negotiate the disciplined Indian bowling – and fell on intermittent intervals. A cameo from Starc helped his team reach 199 runs.
For India pick of the bowlers was Ravindra Jadeja who took 3 wickets. Kuldeep and Bumrah took two wickets each, while Siraj, Pandya and Ashwin chipped with one wicket apiece.
In pursuit of the target, India found itself struggling high time as it lost its first three wickets – Rohit Sharma, Ishan kishan and Shreyas Iyer without any of them opening the account.
