Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said to have apprehended a female accused of posing herself an Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer, in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Local news agency KNS, quoted a police official as saying that the woman was apprehended while she to extort money from a family during a supposed spiritual treatment.

“The accused identified as Ayush Ganjo, wife of Manmohan Ganjoo visited the residence of Gh Hassan Malik in Alipora, Budgam, where she falsely claimed to be an IAS officer and promised to secure government jobs for their children in exchange for a sum of money”, the official, as per the report said.

“Following this, the Budgam Police Station registered a case under FIR No. 302/23, charging the accused with offenses under Sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” added the official.
