Srinagar: In a strategic move to strengthen its grassroot presence and revitalize its organizational framework, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has initiated a process of restructuring the Party across Jammu and Kashmir, after the party’s electoral debacle in recently held assembly elections. In this connection District Presidents for Valley and Jammu province have been nominated recently, as disclosed by the Party chief Spokesperson Dr. Mehboob Beg in a statement issued from Srinagar Party Headquarter.
Similarly, in north Kashmir Baramulla district where the party struggles to maintain its presence and connect with its traditional vote bank, has nominated Mohd Rafique Rather a well-known figure and Spokesperson of the Party as the new District President for Baramulla. Mr. Rather is a former trade union leader and academician who resigned from government service to join politics has quickly earned a reputation of being a vocal speaker and a seasoned politician with a grit on national and international issues besides raising public issues of vital importance fearlessly.
Pertinently Rafique Rather fought recent assembly elections on PDP ticket from the Baramulla assembly segment, has now been assigned with the vital responsibility of the party in most challenging times ahead and Party leadership has expressed hope that he will strengthen the Party in District Baramulla.
Meanwhile, the decision of the party was widely appreciated and celebrated by the party workers who said Rafique Rather’s appointment as District President Baramulla underscores our faith in his ability to lead with vision and will strengthen the party’s presence in Baramulla, which has historically been a stronghold for the PDP and expressed confidence that his leadership, experience, and deep connect with the people will rejuvenate party’s grassroots network and reinforce its position in north Kashmir as well.
