Sogam, Wavoora Residents Hold Candlelight March To Protest Civilian Killings in G’bl Attack

Lolab (Kupwara): A candlelight march was organized by local residents at Sogam and Wavoora Chowk in Lolab Valley, in a solemn tribute to the seven civilians who were killed in a militant attack at a construction site in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday evening. The victims included a local doctor and six non-local workers.

The peaceful march was attended by a large number of locals who expressed their grief and outrage over the senseless killings. Holding candles and marching in silence, the participants condemned the attack and called for justice for the victims. Many of the attendees stressed the need for an end to the violence that continues to plague the region, particularly targeting civilians.

“This is not just an attack on individuals but on the very fabric of our society. These innocent workers and a respected doctor lost their lives to senseless violence. We stand united in calling for justice and an end to these brutal acts,” said one of the attendees.

The attack, which occurred at a construction site, has been widely condemned by political leaders and civil society alike. The targeted killing of non-local workers has raised concerns about the safety of laborers and professionals coming to the region for work. Authorities have stepped up security measures in the area as investigations are underway to track down the militants responsible for the attack.

The candlelight march served as a powerful demonstration of the community’s solidarity with the victims’ families and a collective plea for peace and stability in the Kashmir Valley.
