Kupwara: A mega voters awareness programme under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative was organized on Tuesday in Kupwara, during which events were held at different educational institutions in the district.

During the programme, the organisers used different means to educate the resource persons of the SVEEP initiative.

The main functions were held at Govt. Higher Secondary School Kupwara, GHSS Sulkote Kupwara, BHSS Zachaldara, BHSS MH Pora, HS Warnow, BHSS Ashpora MAWAR, and BHSS Lone Harai.

The events were aimed to raise awareness about various voting-related activities and promote electoral literacy among citizens, especially first-time voters in the run up to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

The events were chaired by the Cluster heads of concerned Clusters and attended by different walks of people including ZEOs of different educational Zones and students from different schools, officials from various departments, general public, first time voters, community leaders and local artists.

Participants were enthralled by election related skits, scintillating cultural performances and interactive sessions designed to educate and inspire active participation in the democratic process.

Pledge taking ceremonies under SVEEP were held where participants took the pledge to vote enthusiastically in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

On the occasion, as a token of appreciation, achiever students and winners of different competitions were also felicitated during the mega events.

Mass awareness regarding electoral participation was generated through painting and quiz competitions and a special plantation drive was also carried out by the participants.

The events were followed by mass public rallies.
