Trio Arrested With 153 Counterfeit Gold Biscuits in North Kashmir, Police Says

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kupwara arrested three persons with counterfeit gold biscuits on Thursday.

“In a major breakthrough, Kupwara Police have successfully busted an illegal trade operation involving counterfeit gold biscuits. Acting on a tip-off, Police Station Lalpora launched a swift operation on 12 September 2024, leading to the arrest of three individuals suspected of being involved in the illicit trade,” said a police spokesman in a statement issued to Alfaaz – The Words.

The arrested individuals have been identified as: Bashir Ahmad Khan, son of Fazal Rehman Khan; Rayaz Ahmad War son of Mohd Taseen and Noor Mohd Lohar son of Rehmatullah Lohar – all residents of Dever Lolab, Kupwara.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the counterfeit gold trade. The police successfully recovered 153 counterfeit gold biscuits from their possession,” said the spokesperson.

“Further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.”

“A case has been registered under FIR No. 61/2024 at Police Station Lalpora under the relevant sections of law, and a thorough investigation is currently underway,” the spokesman further said.
