Kupwara: Inhabitants of Matipora Sharkoot Tarathpora in Ramhall are facing inconvenience amid holy Ramadan month in absence of electricity after the transformer installed in the hamlet developed snag recently.
The residents of the hamlet said that some five days ago, the transformer went out of order which was coupled with a loud bang in the device.
“We have been facing a lot of hardship since the malfunction in the transformer even as it (transformer) hasn’t been repaired yet,” the locals said.
“Despite bringing the issue into the notice of Power Development Department, we haven’t seen they doing anything on ground,” the locals alleged.
“It has been five days now, there is not even a whisper by the officials which goes on to speak volumes about the lack of concern by them to our genuine grievance,” said a local.
Prevailing darkness due to faulty transformer has only added to the miseries of the residents particularly to the students amid various ongoing exams.
The residents have urged district administration Kupwara, Executive Engineer PDD and AEE to look into the matter and get the device repaired at an earliest.
