Kerala: Two men were arrested in Kerala’s Kasargod district for attacking a 62-year-old man, in what the police said was a case of a 50-year-old childhood grudge.

The police arrested two men, identified as Balakrishnan and Mathew Valiyaplakkal, for attacking VJ Babu, who is Balakrishnan’s former classmate. The assault took place on June 2, reportedly a few days after an informal reunion.

According to the FIR, Balakrishnan assaulted Babu in revenge for an alleged attack that apparently occurred while they were in Class 4. Babu and Balakrishnan had a verbal argument about the fourth grade incident a few days prior during the earlier meeting and, although the matter was resolved at the time, Balakrishnan, along with Mathew, confronted Babu again on June 2.

The duo allegedly asked Babu why he had attacked Balakrishnan in the fourth grade; the confrontation resulted in Babu being hit by Balakrishnan and Mathew.

Police said Balakrishnan held Babu by the collar, while Mathew hit him on the face and back with a stone. Babu is currently being treated for his injuries at the Kannur Government Medical College Hospital in Pariyaram.

A case has been registered under sections 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or means), and 3(5) (acts done by multiple persons in furtherance of a common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
