Handwara: Students at Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara celebrated Holi with great enthusiasm, marking the festival of colors in the heart of North Kashmir’s Handwara

The celebrations took place a day after Holika Dahan, which signifies the triumph of good over evil. Students gathered to enjoy Rangwali Holi, the festival of joy, love, and unity. As they played with colors, sang festive songs, and shared sweets, the spirit of Holi resonated across the campus.

Many students from different states of India, who are currently pursuing their education at GMC Handwara, expressed their joy at celebrating Holi in Kashmir despite being away from home. They highlighted the harmonious atmosphere and the warm support from their Muslim friends and local residents.

“We couldn’t go home for Holi, but celebrating here in Handwara has been truly special. Our Kashmiri brothers have stood by us, making this festival even more meaningful. The brotherhood we have experienced here is perfect and heartwarming,” said one of the students.

The event showcased the unity in diversity that India is known for, reinforcing the message of peace and communal harmony. The students expressed gratitude to the people of Kashmir for their support, proving once again that festivals have the power to bring hearts closer, beyond barriers of religion and region.

Holi celebrations in GMC Handwara concluded with students exchanging sweets, embracing the spirit of togetherness that defines this vibrant festival.
