Srinagar: Mitchell Starc has officially become the highest-ever pick in Indian Premier League. The development has come in less than an hour after Australian ODI Skipper Patt Cummins become the first player to touch the twenty-crore mark in the cash-rich Cricketing league.
DC made the opening bid of ₹2 crore and as the bids picked several teams backed off and the sensational pacer was finally bought by Kolkatta Knight Riders – owned by Bollywood celebrities Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla.
Earlier, Australian ODI captain Patt Cummins, who led his team to a historic world cup win against India, went on to fetch a whopping 20.5 Cr price by Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Notably, Sam Curran who was bought by Punjab Kings for ₹18.50 crore last year, until Patt Cummins went on to breach the record.
Shockingly Starc’s and Cummins’ compatriot Steve Smith, who has been a regular member of Australian T20 squad, went unsold.
