Srinagar: The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise has retained two J&K-based players, while releasing one, ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) auctions.

As per reports, the franchise retained Umran Malik and Abdul Samad, among others, ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) auctions while releasing flamboyant batting all-rounder Vivrant Sharma for the forthcoming season.

Earlier this year, during the IPL 2023 season, the SRH finished at the bottom of the points table, securing just four wins from their 14 league fixtures.

Pace sensation Umran Malik shot himself to unprecedented stardom through the SRH camp back in IPL 2022.

Turning up in each of his side’s 14 league fixtures, Malik harvested 22 wickets with a four-fer and a five-wicket haul to his name.

However, Malik’s performance dwindled the following season, when he claimed just five wickets from eight matches while holding a much higher economy rate and an unimpressive bowling average.

In spite of his flop show in IPL 2023, the SRH team management extended the fast bowler’s contract for the 2024 season.
