Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday suspended two doctors and banned their private practice following an incident at a hospital in Sopore recently.

As per the government order, Dr. Anjum Nazir, Consultant Gynaecologist at SDH Sopore, and Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar, Medical Officer (Diploma in Anesthesia) at DH Bandipora, have been placed under suspension with immediate effect. Both the suspended doctors will remain attached to the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, until further orders.

The order in the meantime has barred both the doctors from engaging in any form of private practice anywhere in Jammu and Kashmir.

The government has also ordered the sealing of the operation theater at Hakeem Sonaullah Hospital, Sopore, until the completion of the inquiry.

Notably, the action comes in the backdrop of an alleged highly miscalculated surgery where the doctors at Hakeem Sonaullah, reportedly removed uterus of a patient instead of ENT surgery.
