Srinagar: Another labourer injured in a suspected militant attack has succumbed, taking the toll of fatalities to three, even as Chief Minister Omar Abdullah says the casualty figure was not final as the injured labourers include both locals and non-locals.
Multiple reports quoted police officials as saying that suspected militants fired upon the labourers, working for IFFCO company in Gagangir area of the central Kashmir district this evening.
Two of the injured labourers were declared dead immediately, and another labourer succumbed later on, taking the tally of fatalities to three – as this report was being filed.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who earlier condemned the attack terming the act as dastard, has in a follow up ‘X’ post, as per Alfaaz – The Words, said that, “the casualty figure from the Gagangir attack is not final as there are a number of injured labourers, both local & non-local.”
“Praying that the injured make a full recovery as the more seriously injured are being referred to SKIMS, Srinagar,” the post further reads.
Heavy contingents of forces have cordoned off the site to nab the assailiants.
