Social Media Reports About Alleged Death of Lolab Resident in Saudi Arabia Turn Out Fake

Kupwara: At least two days after social media reports suggested untimely demise of a Lolab resident in Saudi Arabia, it has turned out the person is alive although hospitalized in the country for some ailment.

Various social media accounts had reported that one Aamir Majeed Shah, a youth from Saiwan Lolab, has left for heavenly abode, a news which plunged the entire region into melancholy. As the family tried to ascertain the details, it came to fore that the person is safe and recovering well after suffering a medical emergency in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Aamir’s maternal uncle, Shah Fayaz clarified in a social media post that his nephew was doing fairly well, and asked people to pray his early recovery.

According to Shah Fayaz, his nephew Aamir Majeed endured a medical emergency, losing his consciousness, and was hospitalized. “He, however, has since regained consciousness and is stable.”

While the family has appreciated the outpouring of support, they nonetheless have condemned the spread of false information by some online users and content creators seeking attention. They have urged social media users to verify information before sharing, to prevent emotional trauma to families and communities.
