Handwara: Amid non clearance of snow on the roads by 99 RCC Beacon on many road stretches in Mawer belt, a firefighting operation by Fire and Emergency Services was hit to a great extent, resulting in reduction of a residential house to ashes in Puthwari Nowgam on Thursday early morning.
As learnt, a fire broke out in the attic of a double-storey residential house of one Mohammad Hafiz Khan of Puthwari Nowgam in tehsil Qalamabad.

Upon informed about the incident, the Fire and Emergency Services left to reach the site, but the snow-clogged road stretches impeded the mobilisation of the men and machinery to the spot and in the meantime Indian Army, Police, BSF and locals launched an operation to contain the flames.
