SMC Corporator Booked Under PSA

Srinagar: Aqib Ahmed Renzu, a corporator at Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), has been booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) on Thursday.

Local news agency Kashmir Scroll quoted sources as saying that the action was taken subsequent to his recent arrest on charges of alleged sexual harassment.

According to reliable sources, Aqib Ahmed Renzu, who was arrested last week under FIR numbers FIR No 50/2023, under sections 354, 354A, and 354D of the Indian Penal Code, related to sexual harassment, outraging modesty, and online stalking.

Today, authorities invoke the Public Safety Act against Aqib Ahmed Renzu. The specific order, with reference number DMS-69-2023, has been implemented, leading to his shift to the Kotibalwal jail in Jammu.
