SKIMS Medical College Bemina Expands Facilities to Boost Patient Care

Srinagar: SKIMS Medical College and Hospital Bemina has commissioned several new medical facilities to strengthen patient care and improve service delivery across Kashmir.

The new additions include a Pediatric Allergy Laboratory, the first of its kind in the Union Territory, digital signages for patient navigation, a new endoscopy unit, a central laboratory, a haemodialysis laboratory, and an upgraded anatomy dissection hall.

The facilities were inaugurated by MLA Gulmarg Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah in the presence of Principal Dr Fazl Q Parray, Associate Dean Dr Ajaz A Rather, Medical Superintendent Dr Shafa Abida Deva, senior faculty members, staff, engineers, and donor philanthropists Showkat Qayoom and Dr Sabina.

The event was organised by the Department of General Medicine headed by Dr Tariq A Bhat. Proceedings were conducted by Dr Muzaffar A Naik, who outlined the clinical and diagnostic benefits of the newly added facilities.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr Fazl Q Parray thanked the MLA for his support and highlighted institutional progress achieved with government assistance. He acknowledged the contribution of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, and support teams in strengthening patient services.

Officials said SKIMS Medical College Bemina caters to patients from across Kashmir. Around 10.5 lakh patients availed treatment and diagnostic services at the hospital over the past year. They added that a new hospital building is scheduled for completion by June 2026, which is expected to expand capacity and ease patient load.

The chief guest released the Annual Report and appreciated the efforts of the institution’s administration and staff. He assured continued support at the government level to address key requirements of the college.

A vote of thanks was presented by Dr Muzaffar A Naik. Director SKIMS Prof M Ashraf Ganie could not attend due to prior official engagement.
