Lolab (Kupwara): A candlelight march was organized by local residents of Shranth Khurhama, in a solemn tribute to the seven civilians who were killed in a militant attack at a construction site in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday evening. The Station House Officer alongside with his team was also present on the occasion.
The candlelight march in Shranth Khurhama poignantly illustrated the community’s grief and their commitment for the prevalence of the peace and harmony.
The peaceful march was attended by a large number of locals who expressed their grief and outrage over the senseless killings. Holding candles and marching in silence, the participants condemned the attack and called for justice for the victims.
The attendees expressed their strong desire for peace and development, emphasizing that violence only exacerbates conflict, and can’t bring any peace.
“We are peaceful people and want peace. Such killings can lead us nowhere”, an attendee said, adding “We want development not bloodshed.”
“Killing the civilians can only add fuel to the turmoil and the latter will take us nowhere”, another attendee said.
The candlelight march serves as a powerful demonstration of the community’s solidarity with the victims’ families and a collective plea for peace and stability in the Kashmir Valley.
