Shopian Police Conduct District-Wide Verification of Vehicles, Dealer Records

Srinagar: Shopian Police is carrying out a comprehensive verification drive across the district to inspect vehicles and scrutinise records maintained by automobile dealers. The exercise is aimed at ensuring transparency in vehicle-related transactions and preventing any possible misuse.

Police teams thus far visited multiple dealerships, where they conducted physical inspections of vehicles currently on the premises.

Officials also examined documentation pertaining to the sale, purchase, and transfer of ownership. The verification process focused on assessing the authenticity and completeness of transaction records, ensuring timely ownership transfers, and detecting any irregularities that could facilitate unlawful activities.

Authorities have advised vehicle dealers to maintain accurate, updated, and fully compliant records in line with statutory norms. Police personnel also sensitised the dealers on the crucial role proper documentation plays in strengthening the security framework of the district.
