Srinagar: With 36.2 Degree Celsius summer capital Srinagar on Sunday saw sixth highest temperature, on record, in the month of July.
An independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif (Kashmir Weather) said, as per Alfaaz – The Words, that the temperature recorded today (Sunday) is sixth highest since the establishing of weather observatory in 1893.
The previous records, as per the data available, are 38.3°C on 10 July 1946, 37.7°C on 05 July 1953, 37.0°C on 09 July 1999, 36.6°C on 19 July 1997 and 36.4°C on 24 July 1967.
The temperatures in Qazigund and Kokernag, Faizan said, was at an all-time high. While Qazigund recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6°C with previous record at 34.5°C on 11 July 1988, the Kokernag on the other hand witnessed 34.1°C as against 33.5°C recorded on 22 July 2024.
Notably, the State-run Weather Department forecasted of a ‘significant dip’ in the temperatures from tomorrow (July 29, 2024).
