Lolab: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great pride and patriotism at Government Degree College Sogam in Lolab, where Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Lolab, Javid Naseem Masoodi, unfurled the national flag and took the salute from the parade march. The event was attended by a distinguished group of dignitaries and officials, marking a memorable occasion for the local community.
The celebrations saw an impressive turnout despite the chilly weather, with prominent figures including Justice Sogam Shabbir Ahmed Malik, Tehsildar Lolab Saqib Murtaza, Principal GDC Sogam Dr Showkat Subhan Mir, SDPO Lolab Dr. Raies Ahmed Mir, Lieutenant Colonel Mahadev of the Indian Army and other influential dignitaries in attendance.
SDM Lolab Javid Naseem Masoodi highlighted the significance of Republic Day as a celebration of the Constitution and the strength of Indian democracy. He urged the youth to actively contribute to the nation’s progress and uphold the values of freedom, unity and patriotism.
He commended the efforts of the college administration and local authorities, highlighting the crucial importance of upholding constitutional values.
The program included a vibrant parade and cultural performances by students, each reflecting their patriotism and dedication to national unity. Numerous government and private schools participated in the event, adding to the celebration’s spirit.
In recognition of outstanding contributions, several local officials and society members were honored with tokens of appreciation.
Tehsildar Lolab, Saqib Murtaza, was presented with the “Best Election Management Award” for his exemplary role in the smooth conduct of the recent elections.
Social worker Sheikh Mansoor was also acknowledged with a certificate for his exceptional efforts in community welfare and his dedication to solving local issues.
During the proceedings, media professionals were also recognized for their important role in spreading awareness and information. Prominent journalists from Lolab were awarded with certificates of appreciation for their commitment and professionalism.
Zameer Ul Haq Andrabi and Irshad Ahmad were felicitated for their exceptional role in smoothly managing the dice and event and ensuring its grand success.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Tehsildar Saqib Murtaza, who expressed gratitude to all those involved in making the event a success. He emphasized that the development of the region is driven by the collective efforts of its people and reiterated his commitment to continued growth and unity in the community.
