Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir’s newly-elected Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hinted that he received assurances from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the restoration of statehood of Jammu and Kashmir.
“I have received assurances at the highest level that the commitments made to J&K particularly with regard to the governance model, will change,” Omar Abdullah said.

Abdullah expressed concern over what he called “hybrid” model of governance and warned officials against exploiting it.
“I would tell you in no uncertain terms that there will be zero tolerance for this but I am also acutely aware that we have unfortunately at the moment a rather hybrid system of operating,” he further added.
