Srinagar: Former Intelligence Chief A S Dulat has raised concerns about the functioning of the Lieutenant Governor (LG) administration in Jammu and Kashmir, expressing surprise that the LG is convening meetings with bureaucrats despite the presence of an elected government.

Dulat remarked that this practice sets a poor precedent, drawing parallels with Arvind Kejriwal’s experience in Delhi, where his authority was repeatedly undermined by the Lieutenant Governor.

“This is not the way it should be, and it is not beneficial for Jammu and Kashmir,” Dulat stated.

He said that when Chief Minister Omar Abdullah calls a meeting, it is often followed by the LG convening a separate meeting, leading to frustration among the executive class.

“This is an elected government with a strong mandate. Let it function democratically and without interference,” Dulat added. (KNT)
