Punjab: Punjab reported its first COVID-19 death today after a man died at Chandigarh’s Sector 32 government hospital. He had been referred from Ludhiana.

So far, 12 people have died from COVID across the country, with total number of active cases crossing over 1,000.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man tested positive for COVID-19 in Punjab’s Ferozepur on Wednesday. All those who came in contact with him are being traced as a precautionary measure, officials said, as reported by news agency PTI.

The man works in a private firm in Gurugram, and arrived in Ferozepur a few days ago to stay with his parents as he was not feeling well. He later tested positive for coronavirus. He was immediately isolated at home by the health department.

Ferozepur civil surgeon Dr Rajwinder Kaur assured there was nothing to panic about and that all precautionary measures were being taken.

A few days ago, a 51-year-old woman from Yamunanagar in Haryana tested positive for COVID-19 at a private hospital in Mohali.
