Srinagar: Professor Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, dispensing his duties as Assistant Professor at Government Degree College Kralpora, has left for heavenly abode on Tuesday. He was 45.
As learnt by Alfaaz – The Words, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Sheikh was suffering from Cancer for the last two years, and eventually breathed his last this morning.
Sheikh’s remarkable journey from a humble background in Kralpora, Kupwara, to achieving his PhD from AMU in 2012, had earned him widespread praise and accolades. His dedication to education and role as an Assistant Professor of History in various colleges, including Sogam College and Kupwara College, have left a lasting impact in the education department in general and in the student community in particular.
He has also worked as Assistant Professor, Contractual, at Central University of Kashmir as the faculty member in the Law Department.
Meanwhile, administrations at GDC Baramulla and Kupwara have expressed their profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Prof. Bashir Ahmad Sheikh.
People cutting across different sections of society have also extended their condolences and sympathies with the bereaved family of the deceased, and prayed for Jannah to the departed soul.
His body is currently being brought home, and the timing for his funeral prayers (Namaz-e-Janazah) will be decided later on.
