Poutshai, Lolab (Kupwara): A new public library, the Noor-e-Ma’rifat Library, was inaugurated on Thursday in Poutshai village of Lolab, with Lolab MLA Qaysar Jamsheed Lone presiding over the ceremony as the chief guest.
Located opposite JNV Poutshai, the library has been set up as a dedicated learning space with a curated book collection and designated study areas. It is also the first facility of its kind in the Lolab Valley to be headed by a woman Chief Librarian, a development that has been noted by community members as a positive step for women’s participation in educational institutions.
Speaking at the event, Lone highlighted the importance of accessible libraries in supporting students and encouraging reading habits. He said the new facility would add to the educational resources available in the area.
Residents, teachers and students attended the inauguration and welcomed the opening of the library, describing it as a useful addition for learners in the region.
The library management thanked local supporters and said it would work to keep the facility accessible and beneficial for the public.
