Kupwara: Police Station Sogam Thursday organised a daylong Thana Diwas programme, which was presided over by Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara Shobhit Saxena.

A large number of commoners, respectable citizens and traders of the area participated in the meeting during which they raised a plethora of issues pertaining to civil administration, drug addiction and other civic amenities.

Various issues pertaining to the Police were resolved instantly, and the issues related to other departments were noted down with assurance for take up with authorities concerned for an early redressal.

The participants to the event were requested by the Police Department for overall cooperation and identification of anti-social elements in maintaining law and order situation.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Shobhit Saxena said as per Alfaaz – The Words, that all the grievances other than those from Police Department will be taken up with the authorities concerned for prompt redressal. “We will provide all possible legal support when and wherever required for the larger betterment of society.”

The senior Police Officer remarked that people raising basic and administrative issues with us, shows as how much the people expect from Police.

He sought support of general public for the eradication of drug menace from the society and also cautioned the youth to stay away from any such act which may jeopardize their future.

Encouraging the people to come forward with their genuine grievances regarding Police, the police officer said if anyone at any point of time has any grievance related to Police, he may approach my office or even visit my residence. “I’ll ensure that all complaints are redressed accordingly.”

Expressing satisfaction over the working of newly-posted SHO Lalpora/Sogam, the police officer made special mention of DySP Sogam Rivas Ahmad for latter’s recent bhang eradication drive at Trumkhan forest area.

The police officer in the meantime said that such meetings provide an opportunity to properly channelise the suggestions of people and seek their support for better policing. “More of such meetings and events will be organised in future as well,” he said.

Besides SSP, the other officials present on the occasion included; SDM Lolab Javid Naseem, Tehsildar Sogam/Lalpora Saqib Murtaza; DySP Lolab Mir Raies; Senior Prosecuting Officer Masroor Qadir; SHO Sogam Waseem Ahmad; SOG Incharge Inspector Harvinder Singh; 162 Battalion CRPF Company Commander Sogam Sudhir Singh, Apni Party leader Abdul Rahim Wani and other officials.
