Handwara: In a significant move to curb the drug menace in the region, Handwara Police have attached the property of a notorious drug peddler, Reyaz Ahmad Lone, son of Sonullah Lone, a resident of Badrah Payeen. The property, worth an estimated ₹15 lakh, consists of a two-story building with two shops and one hall.

The action was taken under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985. Reyaz Ahmad Lone has been implicated in multiple drug-related offenses, including Case FIR No. 84/2020 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act, registered at the Kralgund Police Station.

During the investigation, Kralgund Police, as per a statement issued to Alfaaz – The Words, discovered that the property was acquired through proceeds from illicit drug trafficking. The property was therefore identified as illegal and was attached by the authorities. Lone, currently detained under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act at Kote-Bilwal Jammu, remains a key figure in the ongoing fight against narcotics.

This action underscores Handwara Police’s continued commitment to combating the growing drug problem in the area. The local community has welcomed the move, praising the police for their decisive steps in dismantling illegal drug networks and seizing assets linked to illicit activities.

Authorities have reiterated their resolve to pursue similar operations and disrupt the operations of drug traffickers in the region, sending a strong message to those involved in the trade of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
