Kupwara: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kupwara on Saturday informed of having registered a case into an alleged job scam involving false political links.
“Police Station Kupwara has registered an FIR following a written complaint received from a person regarding a case of fraud and cheating involving false promises of government employment,” said a Police Spokesperson in a media statement.
“As per the complaint the accused individuals identified as Wahida Shah, resident of Srinagar and Nusrat Rasool daughter of Ghulam Rasool Magray Kupwara falsely claimed to be senior members of a political party. The complainant alleged that the accused took Rs. 1 lakh each from him and two other individuals on the pretext of arranging government jobs with an agreement that an additional Rs. 2.5 lakhs would be paid upon confirmation of appointments,” reads the statement, as per Alfaaz – The Words.
“Subsequently the accused allegedly issued fake identity cards of the PHE Department and repeatedly assured the victims that appointment orders would be delivered shortly. However despite repeated follow-ups no job orders were provided and the initial sum was neither returned nor accounted for,” the statement reads.
“Acting on the complaint, FIR No. 205/2025 under sections 318(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Kupwara, and investigation has been taken up.”
The Kupwara Police has in the meantime advised general public to remain vigilant against fraudulent job offers and to verify credentials through official channels before making any financial commitments. “The public is encouraged to report such incidents promptly for timely legal action,” concludes the statement.
