Kupwara: As part of the ongoing Public Outreach Programme, Police Post Machil on Thursday organised a Thana Diwas aimed at strengthening policeโpublic relations and enhancing awareness on key social issues affecting the area.
The programme was held under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Mir Farooq, Incharge Police Post Machil, and witnessed the participation of around 100 to 150 people, including senior citizens, Sarpanchs, Lumberdars, Imams, members of Masjid Committees and other respected residents of Machil.
During the interactive session, police officials sensitised participants about emerging challenges such as cybercrime and drug abuse, highlighting their detrimental impact on society, particularly on youth and families. Emphasis was laid on the importance of collective, community-driven efforts to effectively counter these threats.
Religious leaders and members of Masjid Committees were urged to play a proactive role in spreading awareness and to extend cooperation to the Jammu and Kashmir Police in combating social evils, including the drug menace, cyber offences and other unlawful activities.
Participants welcomed the initiative and assured full cooperation with the police in maintaining peace, harmony and a crime-free environment in the area.
The programme concluded on an encouraging note, underscoring the significance of community participation in maintaining law and order and promoting social well-being.
