Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police have destroyed poppy cultivation over a patch of land in Kralpora Kupwara, a spokesperson said on Wednesday.

“On 25-06-2024 PS Kralpora received information from reliable sources that one Farooq Ahmad Shah Resident of Singdona Reshigund has illegally cultivated Opium Poppy over a patch of land,” the spokesperson said.

“Accordingly joint team launched a special drive and successfully identified and destroyed illegal poppy cultivation spread approximately over one Marla of land at Singdona Reshigund.”

The drive, the spokesperson said, was conducted in collaboration with Revenue Department, Agriculture Department, State excise Department and Horticulture department, ensuring compliance with all legal guidelines.

“Moreover, in this regard a case under relevant sections of NDPS act has been registered against the accused person at Police Station Kralpora and investigation set into motion,” he added.
