Police Commemoration Day Observed with Solemnity in Handwara

Handwara: Police Commemoration Day was observed with reverence and solemnity at District Police Lines (DPL) Handwara to honour the supreme sacrifices made by police personnel across the country in the line of duty.

The commemorative event was led by SSP Handwara, Sahil Sarangal, who was joined by DySP PC Headquarters Handwara, DySP DAR Handwara, officers from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and other officers and officials of Handwara Police. The occasion also witnessed the presence of retired police personnel, members of the civil society, and families of police martyrs, reflecting a deep sense of respect and solidarity.

The ceremony commenced with the laying of floral wreaths at the Martyrs’ Memorial, followed by the observance of two minutes of silence in memory of the brave police personnel who laid down their lives in service to the nation.

A ceremonial parade by contingents of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) marked the formal tribute to the martyrs. The parade was followed by the roll call of martyrs’ names, read out by SSP Handwara, acknowledging those from across the country who made the ultimate sacrifice while safeguarding peace and security.

In his address, SSP Sahil Sarangal paid glowing tributes to the courage, dedication, and selfless service of the fallen heroes. He reaffirmed that the Jammu and Kashmir Police will continue to uphold their legacy by working tirelessly for the safety and well-being of the people.

As a gesture of care and commitment, SSP Handwara distributed gifts among the Next of Kin (NOK) of police martyrs and interacted with them to understand their concerns. He assured that all genuine issues and pending matters related to the families of police martyrs would be addressed on priority.

The ceremony concluded with the laying of wreaths and showering of petals at the memorial by officers, guests, and family members, symbolizing deep gratitude and eternal remembrance for the valour of the martyrs.

Handwara Police reiterated its resolve to honour the sacrifices of its brave personnel and to provide unwavering support to the families of those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
