Kupwara: Inhabitants in several villages of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have been undergoing inconvenience over a pet of time amid harsh weather conditions.
People from different villages including Drugmulla, Haihama, Sulkoot, Regipora, Bohipora, Sogam, Nagri, Tarathpora, Bumhama, Trehgam, Kralpora, Muqam e Shahwali, Villgam, Kulangam, Jaggerpora, Chogal, Braripora, Natnussa, Kandi, Arampora, Magam, Rajwar and other adjacent areas have decried unscheduled power cuts for over a month now.
“At a time when the authorities have already hiked the electricity bills by manifolds with assurance to provide seamless power supply, what we have been seeing instead are the frequent power outages,” a group of people from Drugmulla said.
“So much so is the situation that the electricity witnesses an outage in every ten to fifteen once it is restored,” they lamented.
“There is no one to listen to our grievance and even the authorities are not being accountable by anyone from the district administration or the government,” they said.
“Amid harsh weather conditions and several examinations going on and few others in pipeline, things are getting worse with passing of each day,” they said.
Similar grievances were echoed by people from other villages, ruing the non-accountability of the department concerned, despite a steep surge in the electricity charges.
