Shopian: People’s Democratic Party Chairperson Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday expressed her concern over booking of seven SKAUST university under stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Mufti said that the varsity students alongside another student enrolled at NIT, booked for hurting religious sentiments of a particular community, be given a second to save their careers from getting spoiled.
Mufti while talking to mediapersons on sidelines of a party convention at Zainapora Shopian said that booking the seven Kashmiri students under UA(P)A for allegedly celebrating Australia’s victory over India sets a wrong precedence. “Be it those 7 students or the one booked at NIT, all being students deserve a second chance contrary to which their career will be spoiled”, Mufti said.
Mufti said that her party never sought power but only offered an extension to the vision of (his father) Mufti Muhammad Sayed to bring J&K out of misery and to ensure dignity of the people.
Mufti also talked about the rising power crisis and other issues in Kashmir and sought an early intervention from LG led administration to do away with the problems faced by the public.
