Kupwara: The tehsil of Karnah has long been a beacon of unity, valour, and patriotism. A region known for its rich cultural tapestry and stories of bravery. But lately, an ominous shadow had begun to creep across its serene valleys the menace of drugs. The smuggling of narcotics had started to corrode the moral fibre of the community besides destroying many promising young lives by drugs addiction. For a place whose essence thrived on unity and resilience, this is a wound too deep to ignore.
Therefore, alongside the The GOC’s vis to Tithwal on 13th January, a unique social media campaign aimed at combating the drug menace had commenced. The campaign called upon the youth of Karnah to take a stand not just for themselves, but for the generations to come.
Eighty students from across the region answered this clarion call. Each of them poured their soul into creating powerful content that resonated deeply with the struggles of their community. Their message was simple yet profound: “Drugs have no place in our Karnah. Together, we can reclaim our heritage and restore the pride that defines us.”
The campaign snowballed, gathering momentum with every passing day. Videos of young children pleading with their elders, poems that painted the pain of addiction, and heartfelt messages of hope flooded the digital space. Cumulatively, the campaign garnered over 1.5 lakh views, a testament to the collective resolve of Karnah’s people to fight this battle head-on.
On the occasion of Republic Day, at At Azmat-e-Hind, a grand felicitation ceremony was held to honour the brave students who had become the torchbearers of this movement. As the ceremony concluded, the young generation of Karnah stood united, their hearts filled with hope. The campaign had not only sparked a conversation but had also rekindled the spirit of solidarity that defined their identity. (via. Peerzada Zubair)
