Srinagar: Shaniya Nawaz, a law student and an author from Gaya, Bihar has written a poignant, yet overwhelmingly affectionate poem to express her solidarity and hail the courage and resistance shown by the Palestinians – especially from over three weeks now.
The author through her poem expresses her solidarity with the Palestinians amid the highly precarious and uncertain situation going on in the country – the country hailed as ‘Holy Land’ for the belief that is where Hazrat Issa (A.S) was born, preached his holy doctrines, confirmed them by miracles and was ultimately lifted for heavens. The country is believed to have received its name from the Philistines, who dwelt on the sea coast: it was called Judea, from Judah.
Here is what the young author has to write in her poem titled ‘Oh, Dear Palestine…’
Oh, dear Palestine, sorrow in your gaze,
‘Neath stormy, restless skies, your spirit’s ablaze,
You’ve endured the longest of nights,
In the bleakest of hours, your hope takes flight.
One day you’ll be free, we believe,
In your land, love and peace shall interweave,
Flowers shall dance, in the morning’s tender light,
This time shall fade, unveiling a peaceful sight.
In your land, where stories of old reside,
Generations unite, side by side,
You’ve known unending struggle, tears, and fears,
Yet you’ve triumphed through the darkest of years.
Oh, dear Palestine, your strength’s undying,
Through trials and battles, your spirit’s defying,
The world stands in solidarity, in unity,
Hoping for your dawn, a brighter community.
One day you’ll be free, we maintain,
In your land, love shall wash away the pain,
Smiles shall blossom, as the sun ascends high,
This time shall wane, under the azure sky.
Though the road ahead appears so long,
With the power of hope, you grow strong,
In unity, your people stand tall,
One day, peace shall embrace all.
Oh, dear Palestine, your story unfolds,
Of resilience, courage, of stories untold,
With every tear shed, each scar that you wear,
You’ll find solace, love, in the comforting air.
One day you’ll be free, we shall see,
In your land, restored and forever free,
Flowers shall bloom, laughter shall sway,
This time shall pass, a brighter, peaceful day.
