Srinagar: Terming the announcement of finalizing of Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari’s nomination as Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party’s Baramulla parliamentary seat candidate as baseless, a report on Thursday evening claimed that the it actually was party’s vice president Usman Majid who is being mulled upon to be granted with the touted candidature.
Citing highly placed sources, the report said that the committee has not reached any decision and ongoing talks suggest the possibility of Apni Party contesting the election in alliance with other parties that have considerable support in North Kashmir or at least field Usman Majid for the elections – due to be held in or around April and May 2024.
“Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, is emerging as a likely candidate, supported by senior party functionaries”, the report said.
Earlier Party President Altaf Bukhari addressed workers gathering in Bandipora, making it clear that the Apni Party will contest all three Lok Sabha seats, including the Baramulla parliamentary elections, and will field candidates for all three seats.
