Srinagar: The National Health Mission Employees Association Kashmir has condemned the objectionable comments and harassment of a doctor by MLA Ramban during his visit to a Primary Health Center.
In a statement, the Association President Muneer Andrabi reiterated that Alternate Systems of Medicine are a part and parcel of healthcare setup and the policymakers have kept the option open for people to decide which system of medicine they want to opt to.
He, as per Alfaaz – The Words, said that AYUSH doctors are an inseparable part of the healthcare system of J&K and their contribution to alleviating the distress of people in remote areas of the UT is undisputed. “ISM doctors have rendered exemplary services to people in far flung areas where there is no access to healthcare or medicine. They are highly respected professionals and any adverse comment against them cannot be tolerated”.
The Association has urged the MLA to revoke his comments and apologize to thousands of ISM doctors working day and night to alleviate the pain of common masses. “The legislator needs to read about different systems of medicine and schemes devised by Government of India before making such comments”, it added.
The Association hoped that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Health Minister Sakeen Itoo will intervene in the matter so that such avoidable situations are prevented from happening in the future.
