Srinagar: National Conference senior leader Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi tendered his nomination papers from Srinagar Lok Sabha seat amid much fanfare from the party cadre here on Thursday.
Mehdi was accompanied to the venue by several party leaders even as President Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Vikar Rasool Wani also reached the venue to put up a show of strength and bonhomie between NC and INC Jammu.
Talking to media persons, Aga Ruhullah, in an apparent persuasive statement anticipating his win said, as per Alfaaz-The Words, that through these elections, they (NC) intend to convey a message to the, House (Parliament) and centre that the people of Jammu and Kashmir ‘haven’t accepted the abrogation of Article 370 and taking away of constitutional rights to degrade our status.’
“We hadn’t ceded to the Union of India to see this constitutional injustice” Mehdi said.
Notably, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi is up against prominent politicians which include PDP’s Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra and Apni Party’s Mohammad Ashraf Mir.
Pertinent to mention here that today marks the last date for filing of nomination papers in 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency.
The Scrutiny of the nomination papers filed by the Candidates will take place on April, 26, 2024 (Friday).
The Candidates have the option to withdraw their candidature by or before April 29, 2024 (Monday) until 03:00 pm.
