Srinagar: Nasir Aslam Wani (Sogami) on Friday formally assumed charge as advisor of incumbent Chief Minister.
Wani, the incumbent Provincial President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, was recently appointed as advisor by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Wani, recently made an unsuccessful bid to assembly after losing to Peoples’ Democratic Party Fayaz Mir.
He has served the State as the Minister of State for Tourism & Culture, Housing & Urban Development, PHE, Revenue & Relief and later taking on responsibility for the Minister of State Home department as an additional portfolio in between 2008 to 2014.
The veteran politician from Sogam Kupwara is the grandson of politician, late Ghulam Nabi Wani Sogami.
