Srinagar: A narco-terror module was busted, leading to recovery of contraband besides arms and ammunition in Karnah Kupwara, a police spokesman said on Saturday morning.
“On an input that person was trying to find purchasers for heroin, a trap was laid by JKP and Army in Karnah and two persons Shafeeq Ahmad Sheikh son of Late Mohd Shafi Sheikh, resident of Khawarpara Karnah and Tariq Ahmad Malik, son of Gh. Ahmad Malik, resident of Baghbella, was apprehended with approximately 500 grams of heroin,” the spokesman said.
“Further investigation revealed the recovery of three pistols with one Parvez Ahmed Pathan, resident of Sadhpura.”
“Immediately Parvez was apprehended in a joint raid by JKP and Army and 3 pistols, 76 pistol rounds, 6 pistol magazines and approximately 5 kgs suspected explosives were recovered from his possession,” the police spokesman said.
“In this regard, an FIR was registered and further interrogations and investigation is ongoing.”
“Kupwara Police is committed to zero terror policy,” the police spokesman said, adding, “a total of three persons were arrested and 500 grams of heroin, 5 kilogram of explosives, 3 pistols, 76 rounds, 6 pistol magazines recovered.”
