Srinagar: Mufti Ajaz Ahmad Farooqi, cousin brother of Grand Mufti J&K, Mufti Nasir ul Islam, has passed away on Monday morning.

The family sources informed that Mufti Ajaz was not keeping well and eventually breathed his last early this morning.

Son of Late Mufti Ghulam Nabi, the deceased Mufti Ajaz was known for his scholarly acumen and religious understanding.

The funeral prayers (Namaz-e-Jannaza) to the departed soul will be offered at 2:00 PM at House Number 36, Lane Number 2, Afreen Colony, Ellahi Bagh, Soura, Srinagar.

Meanwhile, Grand Mufti Nasir ul Islam in a heartfelt message informing about the passing away of his cousin, as per Alfaaz – The Words, wrote, “We announce the SAD DEMISE of our cousin Mufti Ajaz Ahmed farooqi son of Late (Seraj uddin) Mufti Gh Nabi Farooqi, noble and respectable member of Farooqi family. TO THE RIGHTEOUS IT WILL BE SAID, “O REASSURED SOUL, RETURN TO YOUR LORD, WELL PLEASED AND PLEASING (TO HIM) AND ENTER AMONG MY (Righteous) SERVANTS AND ENTER MY Paradise,” remarked Farooqi.

“Eyes are tearful, heart is full of anguish and sorrow. It is difficult to console loved ones on his sad demise as we know he passed away to a better place.”

“I must say the same words on my behalf and on behalf of dear ones and acquaintances, a prayer similar to that reported by Imam Muslim to have been articulated by Messenger (PBUH) to Umm Salamah (RA) at the death of her husband: ‘O Allah, forgive Abi Salamah, elevate his status among the guided people, and look after his family that he left behind. O Lord of the universe, forgive us and him, comfort him in his grave, and lighten his stay. Every muslim accept this as an undisputed reality that, ’Every soul shall have a taste of death. Only on the Day of Judgment shall be paid your full recompense. Only those who are saved far from the fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object [of life], for the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception.”

“And such are Allah’s words: ‘All that is on earth will perish. But Allah will abide [for ever], the face of your Lord, most gracious, and most generous.”

Reproducing as what Omar bin Al-Khattab (RA) used to say: Mufti Nasir ul Islam said ‘Every day we are told that so and so has just died. One day it will be said, ‘Omar has died.’

“Muslims believe that the present life is a test and preparation for the next stage of existence. Our great Islamic scholars say that Life after death does not fall under the jurisdiction of science, as science is concerned only with classification and analysis of sense data. Moreover, man has been busy with scientific inquiries and research, in the modern sense of the term, only for the last few centuries, while he has been familiar with the concept of life after death since time immemorial. All the Prophets of God called their people to worship God and to believe in life after death. They laid so much emphasis on the belief in life after death that even a slight doubt in it meant denying God and made all other beliefs meaningless The Quran also states that this worldly life is a preparation for eternal life after death. But those who deny it become slaves of their passions and desires, making fun of virtuous and God-conscious persons. And he (i.e. man) presents for us an example (i.e. attempting to establish the finality of death) and forgets his [own] creation. He says, “Who will give life to bones while they disintegrate?” Say, “He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing.” [It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite. Is it not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator. (Quran, 36:78-81).”

“At the end my emphasis will be on the sayings of our prophet (PBUH) who taught that three things continue to benefit a [believing] person even after death – charity which he had given (which continues to benefit others), beneficial knowledge which he had left behind (i.e. authored or taught), and supplication on his behalf by a righteous child (Narrated by Saheeh Muslim Integrity and kindness.”

“May Allah Bless his soul and forgive his sins and grant him (Mufti Ajaz) the highest place in Jannah,” prayed Farooqi.
