Anantnag: The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday organised an outreach programme in Nambal Srigufwara, Anantnag, aimed at fostering nationalism, social harmony, and community engagement. Volunteers from Nambal and adjoining villages participated, raising a range of local concerns before the visiting leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Mir Nazir Ahmad, Convener for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, emphasised that the MRM is a socio-religious platform and not a political entity. โWe neither contest elections nor seek votes,โ he said, noting that people often feel let down by political parties that make promises during election campaigns but fail to deliver once in power. He underscored the need for collective effort between community members and civil society groups to resolve public grievances.
Manzoor Ahmad Padder, South Kashmir Convenor, said the outreach was held to address long-pending local demands. โWe invited Mir Nazir Ahmad Sahib, who visited the area today and responded to the issues brought before him. We thank all volunteers who participated. Our message to the people is simple โ this is your organisation, and we stand with you,โ he said, adding that residents are welcome to convey any grievances so they can be taken up with higher authorities.
Speaking to reporters, Mir Nazir Ahmad said the programme was organised following requests from local residents who wanted greater awareness about the role and activities of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch. โThe MRM, established on December 24, 2002, comprises nationalist Muslims committed to peace and nation-building. We appreciate the locals for their participation. It is encouraging that we can now visit areas like Nambal without security constraints โ something that was difficult 15 years ago,โ he added.
The event was attended by senior MRM functionaries, including Shakeel-ul-Rehman (Spokesperson), M.S. Magray (Co-Convener J&K), Shakeel Ahmad Datta (Secretary J&K), Dr. Zulfikar Ali (Kashmir Vice-Convener), and Tariq Ahmad Laway (Kashmir Secretary). The programme was coordinated by South Kashmir Convenor Manzoor Ahmad Padder, Vice-Convener Sofi Mehraj-ud-Din, Secretary Sheikh Muzzamil, along with zonal and district teams.
The organisers said that several locals also joined the organisation during the event.
