Srinagar: A 48-year-old woman sustained injuries after being attacked by a leopard in Nowbugh Tarathpora area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday evening.

Reports reaching here said that the woman came under attack while she was working in her orchard. The injured woman was subsequently shifted to GMC Handwara where her overall condition is said to be stable.

When contacted, a Wildlife Department Official expressed his helplessness to catch the beast.

“We don’t have sufficient equipment or manpower at hand to catch the roaming beast as most of the available means and employees have been taken to neighbouring district Baramulla, after a spate of animal attacks in the district in the recent past,” he said.
