Sopore, Sep 28: Mehvish Mehraj, a self-taught artist from Sopore has made a huge mark in the field of calligraphy and Mehandi designs without actually having any professional training.
Mehvish, who received her basic education from Iqbal Memorial Girls School Sopore (IMGS Sopore), is currently doing nursing while actively devoting her time to her passion of Calligraphy.
When asked as to who inspired her to take Calligraphy and Mehandi designs, Mehvish says it actually was core affection and love from her father which inspired her and turned her into an artist. “I would love to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my father, who is also my master in this field and was doing such things for guiding and encouraging me from time to time. He directed me to use your skills in a better way which is now paying off.”
Mehvish has made a number of Calligraphies and Mehandi designs are receiving appreciation from length to breadth.
“To prepare one Calligraphy, it takes one hour to complete and to prepare one bridal Mehandi design, it takes at least three hours to complete”, says Mehvish adding “I use both pencil and water-colour and also glitter or Kalam”.
After starting calligraphy and Mehandi designs, she has received warm responses from netizens far and wide. She has directed all of her fan followers to follow her on Instagram @_meh_vish26 and on YouTube Mehvish Mehraj.
“No doubt in this era girls and boys are the same whatsoever they do whether be it in sports or any other fields, everyone should appreciate their work but not those things that are forbidden in our Islam”, Mehvish says.
