Handwara: In a significant step towards delivering essential healthcare services to communities inhabiting remote areas, Kashmir Servers Foundation, in collaboration with the J&K Peace Foundation and Sunrise Hospital Kupwara, organized a comprehensive medical camp at Hengnikoot Tarthpora, Handwara.
The camp was aimed at reaching far-flung and remote areas where access to regular and specialized healthcare remains limited. The initiative focused on ensuring that residents of Hengnikoot and surrounding localities received necessary medical attention without the need to travel long distances to healthcare facilities.
During the one-day camp, over 150 patients were examined by a team of qualified medical professionals, including a general physician, an eye specialist (ophthalmologist), and a gynecologist. Patients received thorough check-ups and consultations tailored to their individual health concerns. In addition, free medicines were distributed on the spot to those in need, ensuring not only diagnosis but immediate relief and support.
The camp addressed a variety of common ailments ranging from seasonal infections, eye problems, and general health issues to women-specific concerns. The presence of a gynecologist was particularly impactful for local women who often face challenges in accessing gender-sensitive medical care.
Representatives from all three organizations emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating that their objective is to bridge the gap between healthcare providers and the rural population, especially those living in geographically isolated regions. By bringing medical professionals directly to these communities, the effort seeks to promote preventive care, early diagnosis, and health awareness.
Local residents expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the camp, noting that such outreach programs make a meaningful difference in their lives. Community elders and local volunteers also appreciated the coordinated efforts of the organizing bodies and urged for more such camps in the future.
This initiative reflects a shared commitment among Kashmir Servers Foundation, J&K Peace Foundation, and Sunrise Hospital Kupwara to serve humanity, promote health equity, and uplift marginalized sections of society. The organizers reaffirmed their dedication to continuing such humanitarian services in other remote and needful areas of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming months.
