Srinagar: A student from Kulgam, currently pursuing his M.Sc. in Lab Science, has been detained by the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) for ‘misusing social media to propagate radical views and instigate public sentiment against the Government of India.’
“CIK reliably learnt that one Bhat Navidul Ali S/O Ali Mohd Bhat, a resident of Tazipora-Mohammadpora of District Kulgam, presently pursuing M.Sc. in Lab Science, is misusing social media for radical propaganda, aimed at to instigate common people against the Government of India and also glamorizing terrorism in J&K,”, the J&K Police’s CIK wing said in a media statement.
The Individual, the statement reads, is in constant touch with some cyber/virtual entities who are radicalising and motivating the youth to join militancy and militant ranks.
“Besides, the individual also consumes the radical content available on the internet. It was also learnt that he is about to join terrorist ranks. On receipt of the information, a special team of CIK apprehended Bhat Navidul Ali for questioning. The parents and respectables of his neighbourhood have been called for counselling,” the statement reads.
“An appeal is made to the youth of Kashmir valley to refrain from involving such illegal activities and parents are advised to keep a close watch upon their wards so that the youth does not fall in the trap of such enticements,” the statement reads further.
