Lolab: Residents of Dardpora Lolab on Thursday expressed their dissatisfaction against Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department for ‘leaving at least one-kilometre stretch of road without macadamisation’.
Residents said that the road was originally planned for macadamization from Dardpora to Gujarpati village. However, the department began blacktopping from a kilometre below, from the designated point, leaving a stretch unattended.
“We had invested this land with the hope of improved road connectivity in the area, but now it feels like a joke as the blacktopping hasn’t been started where it supposedly was to, ” they said, adding the authorities concerned seem to have deliberately left over a kilometre without macadamisation.
When contacted, Executive Engineer R&B assured that he will communicate with JE concerned to address the issue as soon as possible.
ADC Kupwara, Rouf Rahman, also responded to the concerns, confirming that he had directed the Tehsildar Lolab to visit the site along with relevant officials on following day to assess the situation and gather necessary details.
