Handwara: The residents of Handwara and various government departments are facing significant hardships due to the non-availability of an ADC (Additional Deputy Commissioner) in the sub-district, following transfer of previous ADC from Handwara to another location. With the chair lying vacant, the region has been left without leadership at the administrative level.
Dr Sheikh Jamsheed, a local, have expressed growing concern over the delay, citing disruptions in essential services and a lack of coordination in day-to-day governance. Several government departments that work under the ADC’s guidance have been particularly impacted, with many reporting bottlenecks in routine administrative processes.
Tawseef Ahmad, another local, said we are facing unnecessary delays in crucial work, and there is no clarity on when a new ADC will be appointed,” a local resident said. “The situation is becoming very challenging, and we hope the government will take swift action to resolve this.”
As the administration continues to operate without the leadership of an ADC, many worry about the long-term effects on governance and development projects in the area. Authorities have yet to provide an official response or timeline for the appointment of a new ADC to the sub-district.
This ongoing administrative vacuum has left locals and government officials alike waiting for much-needed clarity and resolution.
