Leh incident probe: Commission records statements of 22 officials

Leh: The Judicial Inquiry Commission probing the September 24 Leh incident has recorded statements of 22 officials during its sittings held from December 17 to December 23.

Joint Secretary to the Commission Rigzin Spalgon said the panel examined officials from the CRPF, executive magistracy and Ladakh Police. He said the Commission had also collected and reviewed their written statements submitted earlier as part of the preliminary process.

The Commission is headed by Justice Dr B S Chauhan, former judge of the Supreme Court of India.

The Joint Secretary said the Commission will, in its next sitting, call members of the public to record their statements. He said the dates for recording statements of individuals who have already submitted affidavits will be notified separately in due course.
